An attempt to serve a warrant by a Lincoln County deputy led to a pursuit and the arrest of an Agra man on a new felony charge.
He also faces two misdemeanors. A felony count of eluding/attempting to elude a police officer and two misdemeanors were formally filed in Lincoln County District Court on Oct. 6 against Paul Wayne Roe, 44.
Associate District Judge Sheila Kirk set his bond at $3,000.
The felony count accuses Roe of on Sep. 28 this year of increasing his speed and turning the headlights on and off in attempt to elude Lincoln County Deputy Sheriff Kevin Roe while the defendant Roe was driving a Yamaha Warrior four-wheeler in the vicinity of 3450 Road and 790 Road in Lincoln County after the defendant had received both visual and audible signal and red light and siren directing him to stop.
One of the misdemeanors charges him with driving while his license was canceled, suspended or revoked by the Department of Public Safety.
He is also accused of driving a defective vehicle. The rear lights on the four-wheeler were defective, the charge states.
In an affidavit filed by Deputy Roe, the deputy states he and Deputy Sheriff Jimmy Brown went to a property located in the area of 3460 Road and 790 Road in an attempt to serve Roe an outstanding warrant.
Roe said he and Brown checked the property, but they were unable to locate Roe.
A short time later, as Deputy Roe was driving northbound on 3450 Road between 780 and 790 Roads, the deputy said he spotted the defendant pass him headed southbound with no tail lights. The pursuit began and the defendant kept turning his headlights on and off to allegedly keep the deputies from seeing him.
Deputy Roe said the defendant turned into a pasture and abandoned the fourwheeler near a pond. The deputy along with Deputy Brown began checking the area and called a wrecker to come and pick up the four-wheeler.
While they checked the area as they waited for the wrecker, Deputy Roe said he spotted the defendant lying near a pile of three limbs and tall grass and placed the defendant under arrest.
He then transported the defendant to the Lincoln Jail in Chandler without incident.
While transporting him, Deputy Roe was informed by his Communications Center that the defendant had an outstanding warrant also in Payne County.
