Win over Allen clinches playoffs
Stroud turned Homecoming into a real celebration Thursday night, hammering Allen, 46-0, and clinching a spot in the Class A playoffs.
The win came behind a strong defensive effort and was the fourth straight victory for the Tigers.
Stroud is 4-0 in District A7 and is in a threeway tie with Okemah and Mounds,which is this week’s opponent.
“We’ve gotten the ball rolling since we’ve gotten into district,” said coach Josh Presley.
“I’m really pleased. The kids have really practiced well and have taken things from the practice field to the game field.”
Stroud played up a class in its first three games, facing Class 2A Meeker, Chandler and Prague, and started 0-3.
Once district started, though, the Tigers have steamrolled their four opponents by a combined score of 202-52 and have shutouts in their last two games.
“Our defense has been playing really fast,” Presley said. “We have 11 dudes on defense who want to go make tackles. Coach Hines and Coach Plunkett have done a great job.”
The Tigers held their last two opponents, Konawa and Allen, to fewer than 100 yards each of total offense.
This week, the Tigers host district co-leader Mounds in the first of three games that will determine the final district standings. Mounds is 4-0 in district play and 6-1 over all,

Okemah, the third unbeaten team in the district, has Konawa this week, then closes with Mounds and Stroud.
