Growing up in a small town in Oklahoma, I was taught basic manners, like open a door for ladies and the elderly, to always return something borrowed in better condition than it was when you got it.
As a family we would always show respect for church going people, though we didn’t go, and if you wanted to get your jaws boxed, just cuss in public, or in front of women. As a family, we fell in what I’m referring to as “the Grey Zone.”
We were raised well, to work hard, treat people right, but not Godly. Looking at our degrading society; the foul language, and the rudeness, that one experiences at the grocery store, you see the fruit of these choices.
I have noticed that even the same people that raised their families in like manner now have a filter on their mouth like a chain link fence, using four letter words, and blaspheming God’s name in a convenience store with women present, (Wow!)-this blame falls mostly at the feet of the men .
They lack the courage to be a Godly man and raise their families likewise, they teach us to be busy with material things and neglect the eternal consequences of a person, a family, and a society turning from God.
I plead with you grandpas and dads, look in the mirror of God’s word and ask yourself “Am I Leaving A Legacy For God or the devil concerning my life’s influence, and my family?”
Be a man of God and lead by example! Your family, our cities and nation is crying out for it.
