The Chandler Police Department responded to the following:
Thursday, June 4
At around 10:35 a.m., Ofc. White responded to a two-vehicle collision at Casey’s that didn’t involve any injuries. Upon arriving, he spoke with both drivers and determined that Driver 1 was backing out of a parking spot when they hit Driver 2, who was pulling through the park gas station parking lot. He took photographs of the damage, which was minor.
Friday, June 5
At around 9:30 a.m., Ofc. Gilleland observed an abandoned vehicle near the intersection of Price and 6th Street. He contacted Comm Center, who attempted to get in contact with the owner to move the vehicle. Contact wasn’t made. Ofc. Gilleland then contacted Chief Mattheyer, seeking direction. The Chief said if the vehicle was causing issues for other drivers, to have it impounded. At about 11:40 a.m., Gilleland requested the next available wrecker to the location and the vehicle was impounded at around 11:54 a.m. by Chandler Tire with no holds.
At about 9:45 a.m., Ofc. Gilleland was dispatched to a business on Sandy Lane for a theft. There, the owner told him that when he arrived at around 7:40 a.m., he noticed one of his box trailers was missing. He checked surveillance footage and saw a red truck back up to the trailer at around 7:15 a.m. and then drive off with it. The footage showed three suspects and the vehicle turning left on to Hwy 66, going eastbound from Sandy Lane.
Wednesday, June 10
Ofc. Hawkins was dispatched to West 12th Street for a theft. Upon arrival, he spoke with the reporting party who stated that his helper drove by around 4:23 p.m. and saw a white truck sitting in the driveway. When they returned, 16 blocks of ice were missing from the standup freezer under the carport. The value of the ice was estimated at $1,127. None of the equipment had locks and the suspect is unknown at this time.
While sitting at a restaurant on N Oak, Ofc. Hawkins observed a man who was known to have a misdemeanor warrant at the same location. He waited until the man left the business and then approached him in the parking lot in regards to the warrant. Hawkins placed the man under arrest and transported him to the Lincoln County Jail for the warrant without incident.
Ofc. Hawkins was dispatched toWalmart after a woman reported that she was threatened in the parking lot by a man. When he arrived, he spoke to a woman who stated that she was approached by a Middle Eastern man carrying a backpack in the parking lot. The man knocked on her door and said she almost hit him and the next time he saw her, he would “shoot her.” She feared he might have a gun in the pack and informed customer service at Walmart, who directed her to call the police where the man reportedly repeated “I will shoot you.” Hawkins found the subject, who had a South Asian name and was from California, inside the store and spoke with him. The man said he told the person in the truck to shoo away from him. Based on the victim’s statement, the man was placed into custody for threatening an act of violence and transported to The Lincoln County Jail.
Thursday, June 11
At about 12:34 p.m., Ofc. Gilleland was dispatched to Sonic, where a vehicle was stuck in a stall. When he arrived, he spoke to the driver, who said they miss-judged the turn into the stall and was now stuck on the sign on the passenger side and didn’t know what to do. Gilleland retrieved a manager, who took photos, and then directed the driver, helping them get un-stuck. He then took photos of the damage to the sign and vehicle.
Tuesday, June 16
Ofc. King was dispatched to the Chandler pool for a motor vehicle accident. When he arrived, Driver 1 stated that after they had pulled into a parking spot, Driver 2 began to back out of another spot in the direction ofVehicle 1. Driver 1 attempted to get Driver 2’s attention as they neared Vehicle 1, but Driver 2 didn’t hear or see them. Driver 2 struck the back of Vehicle 1. Upon inspection, there was no visible damage to either vehicle, so the drivers agreed to exchange information and requested a report be made for the accident.
Wednesday, June 17
Ofc. Hawkins was driving westbound on 1st Street at Manvel when he observed a vehicle driving eastbound with the passenger side headlight out. He turned around and initiated a traffic stop in the parking lot of OnCue. He informed the driver of why he initiated the stop and asked for a license and insurance. The driver stated they bought the vehicle a month ago and didn’t know they needed insurance. Hawkins checked the driver’s history and found a municipal citation for no insurance. The car was impounded and the driver began walking towards Dewey.
Thursday, June 18
At about 8:30 p.m., Ofc. White served an arrest warrant to a woman living at Chandler Terrace Apartments. Ofc. Ackerman was notified by Comm Center of an arrest warrant for the woman for misdemeanor assault and battery at the address. Ackerman and White went to the address provided. A man answered the door and they asked for the woman. She came outside and complied. They took her into custody and transported her to the Lincoln County jail without incident.

Phipps asked who was in the house, and the man gave the names of the two women, stating they were girlfriends. Ofc. Hawkins did a warrant check and found that one – Rosetta Chavez – had a felony warrant out of Lincoln County. He asked the man where Chavez was and he said in the back room on the left. Det.
