Also, American Legion Auxiliary will be meeting tonight, September 8th at 6:00 p.m. at the American Legion building. This meeting replaces Monday’s meeting being postponed due to it coinciding with Labor Day. Stroud’s Tigers will celebrate homecoming and compete against Colcord this Friday, September 9th at 7:00 p.m. at Jack Poskey Stadium. The Masonic Lodge will hold its monthly fundraiser breakfast this Saturday, September 10th at the Stroud agriculture building from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. The cost is $7.00 for an “all you can eat” breakfast. The Food Pantry will be open on Tuesday, September 13th from 9:00 a.m. until noon. The Treasure Box will host shopping, food and fun, also this Saturday, at the Route 66 Pavilion. Come on out and support these hometown events.

Town Talk is in the process of giving final approval on the Bugle Boy statue so they may begin the permanent carving. They form a clay mold and make changes as we request them until we give the ok to begin the stone carving. Once he is ready for delivery, we will owe a balance of $8,000 on the finished statue. Town Talk will meet this week to begin planning fundraising activities.

If you are interested in donating to this project, you may contact me at 918-527-9833 or mail a donation to Town Talk at 301 West 6th Street. This is going to be something not only unique to Stroud but also to our State and another way we can honor and say thank you to our veterans. When the final rendering is completed, I will put a picture of it in this column.

Thank you to Alfreidya Webster and Larry Henderson of the Skyliner Motel for hosting Hot Vegas Nights this past Sunday in downtown Stroud. Main Street was buzzing with activities and a good time was had by all who attended.

Putt Putt Kicks on Route 66 is currently open Thursdays through Sundays from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Now that the weather is beginning to cool off, we hope to expand our weekend hours. If you would like to play at a time other than our regular hours, we will be happy to open for you. Give me a call at 918-527-9833.

It won’t be long until someone is knocking on your door saying, “Trick or Treat.” Be sure and buy your candy locally. It tastes better. Have a great week and remember to shop and dine local……………..first!
