An old powerhouse and a new one qualified for the state fastpitch tournament last week.
The Dale Lady Pirates, who have been fixtures in the state tournament and have won four titles under coach Andy Powell, beat Wyandotte, 5-4, on Friday to earn their trip to the 2A tournament.
They will face Minco at 11 a.m. Thursday on Field 2 at Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City. A win would match them at 4 p.m. Friday against the winner of the Pocola-Dibble.
The championship game is at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at OG&E Energy Field.
The North Rock Creek Lady Cougars beat Chandler 5-2 on Thursday to earn their second trip to the state tournament.
Competing in the playoffs for only the second time, the Cougars were state runnerups a year ago, losing to district rival Washington in the championship game. This time around, the Lady Cougars face Comanche at 6:30 p.m. on Integris Field at the Hall of Fame. With a win, they would advane to the semifinals at 1:30 p.m. Friday against the winner of the Tishomingo-Keifer game.
