Davenport’s Bulldogs opened their district play last week, easily winning a home contest and needing only one half to defeat Strother 58-6.
Davenport Coach John Greenfield said, “We played well. Strother had only nine players, but we had only 15 ourselves,” he noted.
“We had two players already injured and got a third player hurt the other night. We may have three out this week, not sure yet,” he said. “I don’t know the extent of the injury to our player who got hurt last Friday night,” the coach stated.
The Bulldogs travel Thursday night for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Summit Christian at Broken Arrow, Greenfield said, noting that the game is Thursday and not Friday this week due to fall break.
About the contest against Strother, Greenfi eld said, “Everyone got to play. We did a lot of good things. Our defense returned an interception back for a touchdown.
“Our quarterback Gage Keith threw the ball pretty well and he ran for a TD too,” Greenfield added.
He said Strother ran for a long touchdown “against our second bunch.”
Looking at tonight’s contest against Summit Christian, Greenfield said, “They like to spread it out on offense. They’ve changed up their defense in the last week or two,” he commented.
