Meeker hammers Kellyville for homecoming

Meeker pounded Kellyville 56-12 Friday to put an exclamation mark on homecoming and keeping pace in District 2A-2.

Sophomore Treyvon Compton replaced injured start Ty Gabbert at quarterback against Kellyville and threw for five touchdowns and 260 yards.

Gabbert was 2-for-2 before leaving the game, giving the Meeker quarterbacks a combined night of 16 completions in 17 attempts.

Junior Ajay Lynch ran for 164 yards and two scores and Braxton Bussell pitched in a 79-yard interception for a score.

The Bulldogs are tied for second and play Jones this week. The Longhorns are tied with Chandler for first.
