Last week’s heavy thunderstorms reportedly caused major damage in some portions of Lincoln County and left some areas without power.
Lincoln County Emergency Management Director Cody McDonell reported the storms left the majority of the Town of Wellston without power throughout the night and OG&E crews were still working the next day to restore power, he said.
“The southwest corner of Lincoln County was also without power that night,” he noted, saying Canadian Valley Electric was working to restore power in that area.
McDonell said some near Chandler and others in the Kendrick area were also without power for awhile.
“We do have some major damage, with roofs and structural damage,” he said.
“One RV that was parked in front of a trailer home was rolled into that trailer home,” McDonell said.
He explained the extent of damage wouldn’t be known until the RV could be moved from the mobile home.
He said he understood there were a couple of vehicle crashes on the Turner Turnpike, adding, “But we don’t the number or extent of any injuries in those crashes.”
McDonell said he was informed by the National Weather Service that radar indicated winds at 80 miles per hour hit the Wellston area and also the southwest portion of the county.
“For sure it was a Microburst,” he stated. McDonell complimented those who assisted in the storms, saying, “Our volunteers and staff and our fire departments were fantastic in their response.”
