Dale Board of Education members have approved the district’s 2023-2024 Estimate of Needs and agreed to stipends for all full time support staff.

School Supt. Will Jones said the Estimate of Needs totals $6,662,185.70.

The board approved the teacher negotiated contract for 2023-2024. Jones noted there were no new changes.

Board members also agreed to create an Activity Account for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The local chapter is overseen by Teacher and Coach Reed Johnson.

It was pointed out, “Johnson has really grown this organization.”

In their reports to the board, Elementary School Principal Tamee Daniel said enrollment Pre-K through fourth grade stands at 338 students. Daniel recently was chosen for the Martha and Francis Award which is part of the Oklahoma Writing Project.

Daniel was nominated by her colleagues for the award.

Middle School Principal Kim Powell reported enrollment in grades 5-8 is 271 students.

She informed board members a gain of about 26 students and those grades lost only about 10 students.

High School Principal Erick Muncy said high school numbers are 72 freshmen, 61 sophomores, 49 juniors and 39 seniors totaling 221.

Board members voted to approve a contract with Stephen L. Smith Corp., as financial consultant for 2023-2024.

They also approved academic credits with Gordon Cooper Technology Center.

They approved capacity numbers for 2023-2024.

During his superintendent’s report, Jones reviewed financial information showing that the warrants in August of 2023 were $711,094, and in August of 2022 were $608,121. That’s an increase of $102,963 over the same month a year ago, he noted.

Building Fund cash balance in August of this year was $212,191 compared to $123,927 in August of 2022. That’s an increase of $88,264, Jones said.

The General Fund cash balance in August of this year stood at $374,135, about $29,469 less than the $403,604 balance in August of 2022, he said.

State Aid received in August of 2023 was $316,656 and that was $45,933 up from the $270,723 in August of a year ago.

The County sales tax balance was $393,267 in August of this year, $9,550 less than the $402,817 in August of a year ago, he advised board members.

August sales tax check amounted to $30,434.

Jones pointed out the General/Building/ County Cash balances added together in August of 2023 totaled $979,593 compared to $930,348 in August of 2022, an increase of $49,245.

Balance of Esser III Budget funds for 2023-2024 stand at $219,130, the superintendent stated.
