Town Talk

Veteran’s Day is this Saturday, November 11th. Please help the American Legion Auxiliary say thank you to our veterans and active military. The Auxiliary is hosting an Andrew Sisters tribute show this Saturday night at the American Legion building. There will be a cookie and punch reception at 6:30 p.m. and the show will begin at 7:00 p.m. All veterans and active military are admitted free of charge. Tickets for the public are $20. All proceeds from ticket sales will go towards purchasing wreaths to honor our veterans buried at the Stroud Cemetery this Christmas. The Andrew Sisters came to Stroud last year and they were such a hit the Auxiliary invited them back for a repeat performance. It’s a wonderful show and a time that we can come together as a community and say “thank you” for your service. Tickets may be purchased at Stroud Cleaners, Unique Market or from any Auxiliary member.

Congratulations to our Stroud Tigers on their big play-off win against Savanna taking home a 51-0 victory. The Tigers will host the Morrison Wildcats this Friday night in Stroud. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Let’s get out and support our Tigers.

Congratulations are also in order for some of our Stroud High School band members. The following students auditioned and earned a prestigious spot in the East Central Oklahoma Band Directors Association (ECODBA) Honor Band: Kimber Cody, Jack Polm-Gore, Brynleigh Bell, Gage Raines, Jace Michalski, Emeri Bradley and Logan Ross. Great job students. Another reason we are Stroud Proud!

I want to wish my niece-in-law C’Anne Smalley a belated happy birthday. Her actual birthday was yesterday but I say you should claim the whole month of your birthday to celebrate. C’Anne is an elementary teacher, mother to three active boys and wife to Jason. Never having had children myself it amazes me how she juggles so many different roles at once, and quite well I might add. August was working some math problems the other day in his head, and I said to him, “You must have had a great math teacher (knowing his mother was his first-grade math teacher).” Lincoln popped
