Joshua Baugher, Harley Cole and Jentrie Gibson have been named the December Lions of the Month by the Lions Club.
Joshua Baugher is the son of Annie Baugher. After graduation, he plans to attend Advanced Individual Training (AIT) with the Oklahoma National Guard and then the University of Oklahoma, where he will pursue a bachelor’s degree in business management. He hopes to own his own business.
He has been on the A and B honor roll for three years and received an Award of Excellence in English for two years. He has been learning leadership roles in the Army and attended the Fall Leadership Conference for Business Professionals of America (BPA) in 2022 and 2023.
Baugher has also been involved in wrestling for one year and powerlifting for three years. He won the Wrestler Newcomer Award in 2023 and was a powerlifting state qualifier in 2022 and state placer in 2023. He has been a member of BPA for two years and also took part in a business pitch competition.
Harley Cole is the daughter of Chris Cole and Charla Munn. After graduation, she plans to attend Southeastern Oklahoma State University and major in chemistry, eventually obtaining a master’s degree. She hopes to become a radiologist but would also like to teach chemistry as a professor.
Cole is an honors graduate and has taken advanced classes in English (two years), math (one year) and science (one year). She has been in Gifted and Talented for 10 years and made the Principal’s Honor Roll and the Superintendent’s Honor Roll for three semesters each.
She has been the BPA secretary and a student council representative for one year. She has also been in band for seven years, with three years on the Band Leadership Team and as a Band Section Leader, as well as made the Cimarron Valley Honor Band for three years. She was also in stage management for three years. Other activities include PSI, Positive Peers, Choir, Drama, FFA, YAHL, Rotary Club, and BancFirst Student Board of Directors.
Cole’s community involvement includes the Lincoln County Halloween carnival, non-profit work with Natural Freedom Farm, the band room restoration, as a volunteer concession worker for CHS sports events, putting together “Girl Power, Wise Guys” with PSI, and making Christmas and Valentine’s cards with Positive Peers for Chandler Therapy and Living Center.
Jentrie Gibson is the daughter of Jeremy and Keta Gibson. After graduation, she plans to attend Seminole State College for an associate’s degree in business. She then plans to transfer to Oklahoma State University for a bachelor’s degree in marketing. She plans to work in marketing after university.
Gibson has committed to playing softball at Seminole State College. She has made the Superintendent’s Honor Roll for three years and won Outstanding Math Student and Outstanding English III Student for the 2022-2023 school year.
An avid athlete, she has played fastpitch softball for Chandler, fastpitch and slowpitch softball for Davenport and basketball for both Chandler and Davenport. She was a member of the 202021 Fastpitch District Champions softball team at Chandler, 2021-22 Slowpitch District Champions softball team at Davenport, the 2020-21 District Champions basketball team at Chandler. She was an All-Conference Player in basketball in 2022-23.
Gibson’s other activities include FCCLA (one year) and BPA (one year).
She has volunteered at the God and People Food Pantry and the local fair and has been involved with a community blood drive and the American Legion Halloween Carnival.
