66 Conference tournament

The 66 Conference Tournament was a thriller.

Condensed from its usual week to a three-day tournament because of weather, it featured double-digit comebacks, gamewinning free throws, missed free throws that could have won games and intense crowds.

In the end, it was the Holdenville boys, ranked No. 20 in Class 3A, and the Okemah girls, ranked No. 11 in Class 2A, emerging as champions.

Both edged McLoud by a point in the finals.

It was the first-ever time in the championship game for the Lady Redskins, coached by Lindsey Myers, and the first time for the boys, coach by Tim Boyer, since they won the tournament in 2016, their first year in the conference.

The Lady Redskins came from 11 points behind to win the their semifinal against Holdenville and almost came from behind in the finals against Okemah.

The McLoud boys edged Prague by two, 48-46, in the semifinals, then went into overtime in the finals before falling, 62-61, to Holdenville.
