Lincoln County E911 wins award

The Lincoln County E911 Center was named the Emergency Communications Center of the Year at the 2024 Oklahoma Public Safety Conference.

According to a press release, the center has undergone major changes, including upgraded equipment, improved training programs, and new programs to better serve the community.

“I feel honored to be awarded Emergency Communication Center of the Year. I am also extremely proud of my team and the hard work we have done in the last year to accomplish this feat,” said Director Iris Harris.

The updated policies and procedures at the center have improved ISO ratings, which indicate how well a community is protected, as well as relationships with field responders. The Lincoln County E911 Center has also become more involved in the 911 community. They’ve attended training exercises, workshops, and conferences, working to continue their improvement.

The press release said they have also worked to build professional relationships with citizens, peers, and first responder partners.

The Oklahoma Public Safety Conference is the largest gathering of the public safety communications community in Oklahoma, according to its website.

The conference was held in Durant from Oct. 14 to 17. The conference had over 25 expert-led education sessions on industry hot topics and is hosted by the Oklahoma Chapters of APCO International and the National Emergency Number Association.
