Authorities are searching for an Oklahoma City man who failed to make an appearance in Lincoln County District Court last month after he was arrested by Davenport police on drug charges.

Special Judge Emily Mueller on Dec. 10 issued a bench warrant in the amount of $50,000 for John Norvell Gulley III, 40, court records show.

Gulley faces a felony charge of controlled dangerous substances–including possession with intent to distribute and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

Associate District Judge Sheila Kirk in November found probable cause to detain Gulley and set a $25,000 bond at that time.

He was to return at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 16, 2020, the records show.

He was scheduled for an initial appearance at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 10 and failed to appear. That’s when Judge Mueller issued the warrant for his arrest and forfeited his previous bond.

The felony charge filed against Gulley accuses him of possessing 11.97 grams of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute at or near 11th Street and Highway 66 in Davenport in Lincoln County on about Nov. 8, 2020.

The misdemeanor count states Gulley possessed a baggie, digital scales used in the practice of illegal drug transactions and without having any medical or other lawful need requiring possession of the paraphernalia.

Davenport police stopped Gulley’s vehicle, a F-150 pickup truck that was pulling a trailer, about 1:45 a.m. after the vehicle failed to stop for a stop sign at 11th Street and Highway 66, an affidavit of probable cause states.

Gulley had a passenger in the vehicle with him, police reported.

Gulley was taken into custody to begin with for driving under a revoked license.

As officers went to the driver’s side door of the vehicle, they noticed a red cut straw inside on the driver’s side floorboard they said that was associated with drug use.

An officer took Gulley to the Lincoln County Jail in Chandler.
