The Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) has approved a $99,999 grant to the Carney Public Utilities Authority (CPUA) in Lincoln County to improve wastewater infrastructure, according to a press release from the OWRB.
The improvements are to bring Carney’s wastewater system into full compliance with the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality’s standard, the press release said. This includes updating outdated lines, manholes and related improvements. The estimated cost was $99,999, which the OWRB is funding through a REAP grant.
The chief of the OWRB’s Financial Assistance Division, Lori Johnson, said she believed the grant would save customers $188,600 in principal and interest charges by not having to borrow the project funds.
