Paul Gordon Goodmon

Paul Gordon Goodmon was born February 02, 1938 in Keytesville, Mo. He departed this life on November 08, 2020 at the Baptist Hospital in OKC. Paul was the son of James Bernard Goodmon, Leila Kathryn (Pemberton, Goodmon) Gottschalk and stepfather Robert Gottschalk. He married Imogene Goodmon on May 27, 1982. He was the oldest of 3 children.

Paul is survived by his wife of 38 years Imogene “Jean” Goodmon; 1 sister Linda Emery and husband C.D. Emery of Derby Kansas, and 1 brother, Robert Goodmon of OKC. Paul is also survived by 4 sons Michael Goodmon and wife Melissa Goodmon of Stroud, Okla., Jeff Bishop and wife Holly of South Korea, David Goodmon and wife Heather Vasas of Kendrick, Okla. extended son Jay Caraveau and wife Kathy Caraveau; also 7 grandchildren Tony Goodmon and wife Chassary McClendon of Stroud, Okla., Steven Bishop of Seattle, Wash., Stephanie Charkowski and husband Chris Charkowski of Stroud, Crysta Tucker and husband Tyler Tucker of OKC, Andrew Bishop of Portland, Ore., MaryJean Goodmon and Samantha Goodmon both of Kendrick; 6 great-grandchildren, Jordyn Foster, Zane Charkowski, Vance Tucker, Ryleigh Goodmon, Verona Tucker, & Violet Tucker. Paul loved his family and his all friends like family.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents and 2 daughters that passed in infancy.

Paul was the type of man that would drop whatever he was doing to help anyone that asked. He taught his children to be respectful but be strong in their beliefs. Paul loved spending his time with his loving wife Jean; he wanted to be able to spend as much time together as they possibly could.

He was also willing to learn new things even at the age of 82. Paul had 4 years of college and he took home lessons in Spanish and was always trying to advance in his playing of his guitar. After Mike introduced Paul to the World Wide Web on his new laptop, Paul would spend hours learning new interests. Paul would call Mike when he needed him to walk him through something even if it took an hour over Facetime, Paul always stayed patient and calm.

“He was at his core a teacher; whether it was with his boys, his grandchildren or anyone else that wanted to learn, he had both stories and wisdom to share and a unique knowledge base that would put Britannica to shame,” stated by his son Jeff. He loved all his family and would give all he had if they needed it. He worked without hesitation as hard as he could, right up until the accident.

Paul worked many years at Hadson in Stroud and Lee Way in Oklahoma City as a diesel mechanic. He still was willing to teach anyone who wanted to learn, whatever they wanted to know. His guidance will be missed. He was the rock for all four of his sons. Paul had many hobbies, reading on his Kindle note book, listening to blue grass music, gardening, working with his hands, collecting and shooting guns, reloading ammo, fishing, playing guitar, watching old westerns, spending time and teaching his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and Sons of the Confederacy and attended the Chapel of Faith Church in Stroud.

Graveside services were held on Friday, November 13, 2020 at the Stroud Cemetery.
