Stroud man faces felony

A Stroud man who has several prior felony convictions is facing a new felony.

Charles Buchanan Fields, 54, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court March 31, 2025 with possession of contraband by an inmate.

He appeared before Associate District Judge Joe Dobry March 28. His bond was set at $5,000 and he made his initial appearance on Apr. 10.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. June 23.

Fields is accused on March 28, 2025 of having in the Lincoln County Jail an item of contraband, specifically a Controlled Dangerous Substance while he was at that facility.

Supplemental information filed in the case by Assistant District Attorney Kelly Trimble shows Fields has several previous felony convictions.

On Dec. 11, 2019 in Payne County District Court driving while under the influence.

In Pawnee County District on March 24, 2017 driving while under influnence.

On May 29, 2008 in Lincoln County District Court driving while under the influence.

In Pawnee County District Court on June 18, 2004 placing bodily fluids on a peace officer.

And in Pawnee County District Court on Aug. 2, 1996 driving while under the influence.
