Here’s a head’s up to all you donut lovers out there. GiGi’s Donuts will be closing September 1st to move to their new location. GiGi’s Donuts will now be located at the corner of Highways 66 and 99. Their official address is 724 West Main Street. As you can tell from when they were working on the renovations, that building used to house Happy Foods, a convenience store and gas station. Years later my dad and brother operated a Texaco gas station and convenience store in the same location. It will be nice to see that corner once again thriving with the relocation of the donut shop and yes, they will have a drive-thru.

There will be a bluegrass and gospel jam session Thursday August 28th at 6:30 p.m. at the Route 66 Pavilion. It will be an “all acoustic” night. Bring your boxes and chairs and head down to the pavilion. Everyone is invited.

Attention all veterans and veteran’s family members! Don’t forget to check out the Stroud Pavilion Farmers Market this Saturday, August 30th from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Route 66 Pavilion. All available space is filled to capacity with booths. Twenty vendors will be bringing homemade, home-baked or home-grown items to sell. Come see what they have to offer. A Town Talk shout-out goes to Kristin Christoffel organizing this event. Thanks, Kristin for all your hard work. 66 Remnant, Inc. located at 518 West Main in Stroud, will also be open for business during the market hours. They will have vendors set up in their store and Violett Junktion, located in the former Stroud American will be open, too. It’s going to be a fun evening you won’t want to miss.

Stroud’s Cross Country runners, elementary through high school, competed this past Saturday in Prague. Dyson Russell, Parkview elementary 5th grader, finished first among the Stroud runners. August and Lincoln both competed with Lincoln finishing 4th among the Stroud runners. Great job by all who participated.

I want to send wishes to my sweet great-nephew, Lincoln, who will turn nine years old this Friday, August 29th. Lincoln is kind and thoughtful and also quite the jokester and entertainer. Happy Birthday, Lincoln, and many more!
