Lady Tigers on roll with winning streak

The Lady Tigers (15-1, 6-1) are riding a seven-game winning streak, scoring an average of 11.6 runs per game and winning by an average margin of 10 runs.

There are a handful of Stroud players contributing toward the successful 15-1 2019 season. Eight Lady Tigers have at least double-digit hits while six of them are batting over .350. Stroud’s Kailea Coleman leads the team with 21 RBIs while Alyssa DeLeon and Macey Morris lead the team with 16 hits apiece. DeLeon is also the team’s ace pitcher with a record of 11-1 and 23 strikeouts on the season.

With four regular-season games and a tournament remaining, the Lady Tigers look to continue their dominant play into the postseason.

Stroud vs. Davenport on Tuesday, September 3 The Lady Bulldogs traveled 10 minutes east to face the Lady Tigers in what ended in a short trip. Stroud run-ruled Davenport in three innings, 12-0, thanks to a nine-run inning in the bottom of the second. Six Lady Tiger batters contributed a hit while Janay Cline, Emma Davis, and Katlyn Hughey finished with multiple hits and combined for six hits and six RBIs.

Jadyn Young pitched three innings in the shutout win, allowing just one hit, striking out three and walking zero batters.

Stroud at Coalgate on Thursday, September 5 Both district opponents were at a stalemate through the first three innings before the Lady Tigers took a 1-0 lead after Kailea Coleman singled to right field to bring in Skyla Baker in the bottom of the fourth. Coleman’s RBI single came with two outs, which is the scenario Stroud would find most of its success with timely hitting.

After the Lady Wildcats tied the game at one apiece in the top of the fifth, the Lady Tigers would take the lead for good the following inning. Stroud scored two runs in the top of the fifth with two outs and would score two more runs in the top of the sixth, again, with two outs.

Coalgate would make a push in the bottom of the sixth scoring two runs before falling to Stroud 6-3. Stroud snatched the lead late in the game in a 6-3 victory over Coalgate.

Alyssa DeLeon was the winning pitcher for Stroud, allowing four hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out one and walking one.

Stroud totaled 11 hits led by Janay Cline, Macey Morris, and Jadyn Young, who managed multiple hits for Stroud. Morris and Cline each finished three hits to lead Stroud.
