Prague:

Prague’s Lady Devils flexed some home run muscle to subdue long-time rival Meeker and earn a spot in this week’s Class 3A fast-pitch state tournament at the Firelake fields in Shawnee.

They will play Sulphur at 11 a.m. on Thursday.

Meeker got out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning of the winners’ bracket game on Thursday, but the lead was short lived.

Prague got two runs in the fifth on a home run by Karsyn Coleman and an RBI single by Josi Goodman, who had three hits in the gamer. Adisyn Auld had the game-winner with a two-run home in the sixth inning.

Meeker came back through the losers’ bracket earn a rematch on Thursday, but Prague pounded 12 hits, including a homer by Beth Denney, and built a 6-0 lead going into the bottom of the seventh.

Meeker scored three and had the tying run at the plate before the Lady Devils closed the game.

This will be the third trip to the state tournament for the Prabue seniors. It will also be the third for coach Dailyn King, who took over the Prague program this year.

“I knew they had a good senior class and they’d had some success before,” she said. “So I knew there was something there to work with and they had the drive to get back.

“Their work ethic kept them on pace.”

The Lady Devils rolled through the first round, beating Lindsay 11-7, with Coleman and Auld poling homers.

Hitting stars abounded for the Lady Devils. Auld was six-for-10 with two homers; Goodman was five-for-11; sophomore Demi Manning was 6-for-11 and Denney was four-for-nine.
