Meeker recovered a last-minute on-side kickoff, thwarting a fourth-quarter Chandler comeback Friday.
Meeker dominated the first three quarters, building an 18-0 lead primariliy behind the running of quarterback Jacob Martin and junior tailback Caden Wolford, who combined for 343 rushing yards and dominated possession.
“They came out and punched us in the mouth and we didn’t repsond how we should have,” said Lion’s coach Jack Gray.
“Their coach had a good game plan with the things they did offensively. Defensively, we expected what we got. We just didn’t respond.”
Chandler got untracked in the fourth quarter, though, and got a touchdown reception from Darian Mahan in the opening seconds of the fourth quarter.
