The game had the trappings of a showdown, but Davenport made short work of it, whipping up on Prue, 52-6, and taking sole possession of first place in District B-7.
The Bulldogs and Prue went into the game unbeaten in district, but now Davenport has its destiny in its own hands with games remaining against Olive and Yale, a combined 2-14 for the season.
Tyler Harrison started the scoring for Davenport, snatching a fumble and returning it 38 yards for a touchdown.
Carson Funk ran for the conversion and what effectively were the winning points.
Kyle Hobill followed with a 10-yard run for a score, with Harrison adding a conversion run for 16-0 lead.
Prue followed with its only score, a 42-yard pass from Jace Horlen to Jaden Reed. The conversion try failed, and that turned out to the high-water mark for Prue.
Funk went on to have a good career in the remainder of the game, running for 289 yards and four touchdowns, completing four of their throws for 34 yards and a score and accounting for two conversions.
His scoring jaunts covered 68, 3, 8 and 65 yards.
