Thanks to everyone who purchased donuts from Town Talk’s fundraiser.
I have received numerous comments about the cute and tasty donuts.
Please know that your support will go towards community improvement projects
It was great to be able to “shop local” and help one of our Stroud businesses.
Don’t forget that GiGi’s offers more than just donuts. They have various other breakfast items.
Remember, too, that they can spell names with donuts and this makes a great birthday treat.
A big thank you goes to Rachel Geiger who not only helped me deliver over fifty boxes of donuts but helped box them.
Town Talk Team Table Trivia is this Thursday night. I talked to our game show host and he is excited about this month’s questions.
He says he has some good ones so come join in the fun. Dinner is at 6:00 p.m. and trivia begins at 6:30 p.m.
Cost is $20 per person or $30 for two family members. Trivia is not only a fun time, but also raises money to help our community.
I have had several people ask me if the American Legion building is for sale and my first response is “no.”
There has been some chatter about someone purchasing the land in that area but at this point it is only talk; no one has been formally approached and no offer has been made.
Before the Legion building could ever be sold it would take a vote of the members and that has not happened.
Thanks to everyone who attended the veteran’s donuts and coffee get-together on Valentine’s Day.
Those veterans and spouses attending were Carl Robertson, Frank Niccum, John and Judy Palmer, Hugh Otto, Gordon Beck and Steve Bivin.
Auxiliary members hosting were Aleta Smalley, Thelma Mauldin, Donna Barrett, Maxine Jordan, Marsha Morgan and Dolores Hamlin.
I stopped in to say hello but was on the go delivering donuts and was even able to deliver a few to those veterans unable to attend.
Lavina Hinman also stopped by to give the ladies a hand. Lavina’s brother served during World War II.
Thank you, again, to Tom and Janet Place Huwar for providing the donuts for our veterans.
Tom and Janet currently reside in Houston, Texas but Janet is a 1972 graduate of Ole Stroud High School.
Wirt Trawick sent word to me that he had planned on coming but slept in that morning.
Donuts were served until 10 a.m. so I’m not going to say what time Wirt got up, but I think there is too much partying going on at Prairie Point.
How do you like having the community calendar back in the paper?
Several of you mentioned you were missing it so it’s back.
If you have an activity you would like listed just give me a call at 918-527-9833 or e-mail me at okiesteakhouse@yahoo.com.
Feel free to call me about any of your newspaper needs; I’m here to help you.
If I don’t know the answer to your questions, I’ll find out for you.
We are fortunate to have a weekly newspaper. Pick your copy up this week and stay informed about what’s happening in our community.
Don’t forget to check out our local merchants before driving out of town to shop.
You can get most of your needs met right here, locally.
Have a great week and as always, remember to shop and dine local……………first!
