I want to thank all the Meeker residents for their continued support of all our local businesses throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic. Yes, we are in the “phase 3” part of the re-opening of Oklahoma, so let’s all keep on doing what we have been doing with the washing of the hands, social distancing, and other good habits. If you feel you need to wear a mask, wear one. I remember seeing people at Wal-Mart wearing masks way before the COVID-19 pandemic. My grandfather told me one time, “Do you know why God made chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla ice cream? So that people could have a choice.” So thank you again to those that wear masks and all the things that we have been doing to keep Meeker free of this pandemic.
There is still more work to be done at the cemetery for the wet lands ruts that occurred over Memorial weekend, but the guys will get it done. We also used the emulsified granite on some holes on S. Dawson. The granite on Koonce is holding up good.
The Police Department has received new phones to go along with the new hot line 1-877-735-4558.
The Fire Department has moved some trucks and equipment into their #2 fire station.
It sure helped with more room now at the original fire station at City Hall.
Congrats to all the 2020 Seniors for their successful prom at LaDonna’s and graduation ceremonies at the football field. I enjoyed opening the ceremonies at the prom and dancing with my beautiful granddaughter, Camryn Coleman.
Special thanks to all the parents, police, and businesses that sponsored the prom. It was reported all had a great time.
Be sure and check with the Meeker Library, they have a lot of great happenings going on now.
The PWA guys have all in order and have been helping with mowing. Thank you, Jimmy Lindsey for spraying the weeds all over town and the lake. Main Street and Highway 62 has been weed-eated and sprayed as well.
There is a special need of bottled water at the Fire Department at City Hall, you can never have enough water for all the special needs that the City comes across. Thank you to all who have already been bringing water and Gatorade. Let’s keep it up.
Put on your schedule for the upcoming rodeo, Friday June 26th & Saturday 27th.
