Barbara Agnes McCoy

Barbara Agnes McCoy was born February 16, 1937, in Yale, Okla., and died Sunday, August 30, 2020, at her home in Luther, Okla. She was 83 years old.

McCoy, the daughter of James Edward and Bertha Agnes (Johnson) Akins, married Bill McCoy on March 3, 1954.

She worked as a nurse aid and was a member of Yale First Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her husband, an infant son, two grandsons, son-in-law Stephen Barnes, her sister Gaylene Stewart and three brothers, James “Jimmy” Akins, Benny Akins and Randy Akins.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Brenda and Harlan Fife, Betty and Kevin “Digger” Bourlon, Bonnie and Marvin “Bud” Carter, and Beverly Barnes, all of Wellston, Billy and Melba McCoy of Luther, Buddy and Becky McCoy of Ponca City, Okla., and Barbara and Michael Barnes of Jones, Okla., 21 grandchildren; and 46 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her siblings, Verlon Brown of Yale, Claudene Pierce of Clinton, Okla., JoAnn Pryor of Elk City, Okla., Sue Stalling of Wellston, Jerry Akins of Tryon, Tom Akins and Debbie Marriott , both of Ada, Okla., and Sarah Longeway of Arkansas; and other family and friends.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at Trinity Baptist Church of Wellston with the Rev. Lane Buckley officiating. Burial followed at Carney Cemetery under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
