Dale’s boys and girls rolled to within a game of the state tournament last week, while Chandler, Stroud and Prague moved into the consolation bracket in the regional tournaments.
Dale’s girls, ranked No. 1 in Class 2A, blistered Preston 62-42 and Pocola 69-37 to win their regional and moved into the area finals at 6 p.m. Friday in Ft. Gibson. Win, and they move to the state tournament. Lose, and they come back on Saturday to try again.
The boys, also ranked No. 1, had a tighter fit in the regionals, beating Pawhuska 63-59, but they’re in the area finals, too, and face Oklahoma Union at 8 p.m. Friday in Ft. Gibson. Like the girls, they can move to the state tournament with a win on Thursday.
Chandler and Prague will square off in the area tournament for the second year in a row. They’ll meet at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hennessey. The winner of that game can make it to state by winning again on Friday and Saturday.
Stroud’s Lady Tigers will face Watonga at 6 p.m. Thursday in Enid’s Stride Center. They can make it to state if they win that game and their next two.
