A $50,000 bench warrant has been issued for a Stroud man who is facing two felony counts following a reported altercation in April involving domestic violence.
Brandon Darrell Gordon, 42, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court on May 5 with Domestic Assault and Battery by Strangulation and Kidnapping.
The $50,000 warrant for his arrest was issued the same day.
Count 1, the Domestic Assault and Battery complaint, accuses Gordon of beating Kendra Gordon, his wife, by choking her by the neck on April 24 in Lincoln County.
The Kidnapping count charges him with holding her against her will on the same date.
Prosecutors state that each of the charges could lead to prison terms of 20 years to life if convicted.
Prosecutors state in supplemental information in the case that Gordon was previously convicted on June 6, 2002 in Lincoln County District Court of Domestic Assault and Battery in the presence of a minor, a felony and sentenced to one year suspended.
He was also convicted on July 8, 2013, in Lincoln County District Court with Domestic Assault and Battery, a felony and sentenced to four years suspended.
Lincoln County Deputy Sheriff Allen Brown, in a probable cause affidavit, states he was dispatched to 810910 S. 3580 Road, Stroud in Lincoln County to a residence “whom we had repeatedly been to over the past several years.”
Brown reported when he arrived, Kendra was sitting in a pickup south of her residence with Eldon Gordon, Brandon’s father, and Gordon Christiansen. He said both men told him they witnessed the altercation between Brandon and Kendra.
The deputy stated as he visited with Kendra he noticed a large knot in the middle of her forehead and bruising around both eyes, red marks made on her neck and bruising of her right upper arm. Kendra told Brown that Brandon had done all that to her.
She further related to Brown that Brandon Gordon had been holding against her will for the last three days until Eldon and Gordon Christiansen came to the residence, because they heard all the yelling and screaming.
Kendra informed Brown she was trying to get in the pickup and Brandon was trying to pull her out, yelling that he was going to kill her.
She was finally able to get away from him and got into the pickup. She told the deputy that Christiansen was driver of the pickup that pulled away from the residence and he drove south on 3580 Road about a half mile.
