Consequences of vacation

They say every vacation has it’s consequences and I am suffering through mine.

Last week, I went to Phoenix, AZ to surprise my sister for her birthday.

I had a great time catching up with family, seeing old friends, exploring new canyons and trying new foods.

The only problem is I was exposed to COVID-19 and, even though I thankfully tested negative, I have to quarantine for 14 days.

It’s been a long week. Working from home isn’t bad, except the distractions are way worse.

For example, my dog, Bishop.

I love when he sits on my feet and keeps them warm, but I hate when he bumps the power cord and accidentally unplugs my computer.

I decided to give him a bath, which apparently to him this was the most repulsive idea I’ve ever had.

So, I figured I’d take it slow.

I was able to coax him into the bathroom with the help of Beggin Bacon treats.

I saw on the internet how people would put peanut butter on the sides of their tub to keep their dogs distracted during bath time and I figured I’d give it a try.

For over an hour, I tried sweet talking and coaxing Bishop into the bathtub.

My patience quickly ran out and I figured I’d just pick all 70 pounds of him up and place him into the tub…

I tried several times all resulting in him splashing around like a crocodile conducting the Death Roll and jumping out of the tub before I could even get started.

I ended up with water all over the floor, peanut butter all over the tub, dog hair all over me and the smell of wet dog permeating throughout the house.

And a dog that still needed a bath.

I ended up having to take him outside, tie him to myself and wash him with the hose.

I have enjoyed being home and spending time with my dog, however, it’s hard to get any work done when he comes running into the office with his bunny toy just begging me to play.

Dogs truly are a man’s best friend. I never fully understood that saying until now.

I honestly don’t know how people are getting through their quarantine without one
