1. Update on Meeker Lake Quapaw 15 Project

A. Jeff Dean, Senior Engineer, GED Technical Services returned my call about the soil samples. He blamed the hold up on COVID19 and said they were done with their lab reports and have been turned over to another agency for their report. He said that report could take a couple of months.

2. Update on Glenncrest Park

A. The Basketball court received a seal coating of rubberized nonslick covering from S&S striping from Shawnee. S&S came back Monday and striped the court.

B. Basketball goals, rims and nets will be installed this week.

C. Rocks for borders are still being put in place.

D. Volleyball net will be installed this week.

E. Waiting on mulch to be spread.

F. Waiting on parking lot.

G. Getting closer, week by week.

H. Official opening date of the park will be announced in a few weeks.

3. Update on Car Show and Parade A. Over $3,000 worth of awards

A. Over $3,000 worth of awards and prizes was given away to 35 car show participants. Prizes were given away every 30 minutes to the car folks. Vendors are also to receive awards from Growth and Development.

B. Special Thanks goes out to our Meeker Police Officer, Dusty Stephens and his dad, for making our unique 1st Place trophies to be given for 1st Place in the Car, Truck and Rat Rod 4x4 and Off Roads division.

The biggest trophy they made will go to the Grand Prize Winner. These awards were given out at approx. 3 P.M., in between the live music shows. Look for winners in next week’s edition.

C. The Car Show Sponsors include La Donna’s, Rainbow Fuel Stop, Loy’s Auto, El Tapatio, Fred’s Tire, Tractor Supply, Holik’s Tire, Bison Federal Credit Union, Rosa’s, Shawnee Outreach Thrift Store, Advance Auto Parts, Staples, Love’s, Santa Fe Restaurant, Shawnee Honda, Vision Bank, BancFirst, Randy Bowen Chevrolet, Napa Auto Parts, O’Reilly’s on Harrison Street. Lobo’s, O’Reilly’s in Chandler, Canadian Valley Electric Coop, Chili’s, Branding Iron, Urban Hair Design, Billy Boy’s, Lincoln County Farm Center, Abuelita Rosa’s, Phillips 66/Rainbow Fuel Stop and O.G.&E.

4. Update on Chamber of Commerce

A. Plan on attending the Fall Festival, Saturday, Oct. 31st at the Meeker High School Bus Barn. Sounds like a lot of fun!

I hope the dunk tank is there again this year.
