After a 54 minute executive session, the Chandler School Board approved the contract of the superintendent, Melody Toma, and hired two new employees.
Melody Toma has worked at Chandler Public Schools since 1992.
She started working as a counselor at the high school in 1992 and worked there for five years.
She then moved to Park Road and East Side Elementary schools where she worked as a counselor from 1997 to 2003.
From there she worked as the Principal of Park Road Elementary for 15 years.
With the approval of her contract, Toma will be starting her third year as the superintendent next year.
Pam Pippin was hired as a custo dian and Amy Sanchez was hired as a paraprofessional to work where there is a need.
Other actions made by board members include:
• Approval of the consent agenda including the minutes from the Jan. 13 meeting, the financial transactions, and the administrative report.
• Approval of the contract for Bill Ford to perform the audit of the 2019/2020 fiscal year.
• Approval of the calendar for the 2020-2021 school year.
• Approval of the contract with “Frazier Fire, LLC” for the annual fire inspection of the sprinkler and fire alarms.
• Approval of the contract with “Stryker Integrated Solutions” to monitor all of the district’s fire systems.
• Approval of the contract with “ADPC” for basic accounting software services for the 2020-2021 fiscal year.
• Approval of any and all courses, and their respective high school credits, offered to Chandler High School Students while attending Gordon Cooper Technology Center during fiscal year 2020-2021.
• Approval of the revision of the policy, “Child Nutrition Meal Charge Policy.”
• Approval to pay qualified National Board Certified Staff Members a bonus stipend of $5,000 less the required state and federal withholdings.
Those qualifying include Dana Key and Randee Gray.
