This is the Thirtieth article in a permanent column for Stroud Arts that appears in the Stroud American. The mission of these articles is to inform, educate and inspire you, the reader to Make Art Happen in your life and the life of our community.

Now that the cold rainy season is almost over and we are moving into the warm rainy with a chance of tornadoes season, its time for a Stroud Arts Update!

Since 2014, Stroud Arts has hosted both single events and season long projects. Some projects are entering their sixth year of operation while others are being created and unveiled in the upcoming months.

At the completion of each project, the Board of Directors evaluates each project to determine whether it will be a recurring project or if it will be removed from our future list of events.

The primary determinant of each projects success or failure is if the community came out to support it.

For our current Board of Directors, we are always willing to dedicate our time, energy and passion to bringing new as well as continuing projects to our community and this month brings a new and a recurring program to Stroud.

Starting next week, Stroud Arts will host its first, ‘Spring Break Film and Craft Camp’!

Since 2016, Stroud Arts has participated in the 48 Hour Film Project, an International Film Competition, where teams write, film and present a complete short film in 48 Hours.

Our goal is to follow the same format but without the immense pressure of completing the entire project in 48 Hours.

We will slow down the breakneck pace to take our participants through the entire film making process; from generating the idea for the script, to scriptwriting, creating a shooting schedule, storyboard, rehearsal, construction of costumes and props, location scouting, shooting and finally editing the film. As in the 48 Hour Film Competition, the end product will be a short four to seven-minute film.

If you are between the ages of 8 and 18 and want to be part of this program, please contact Stroud Arts on Facebook or by phone at 405-240-1025 and register. The fee is $50 for each participant with a discounted fee for the second and third sibling.

Its not too early to get ready for Summer and ‘Stroud Arts: 2020 Summer Stock Community Theatre Program.’

On Monday March 23 and Tuesday March 24, we are having open auditions for actors and technicians of all ages who want to be involved in our Summer Stock Program.

There will be three performance categories, Children Theatre ages 6-13, Teen Theatre ages 13-18 and Community Theatre ages 18+.

Each theatre group will be rehearsing at different times with performances being scheduled across the summer.

Children and Teen Theatre rehearsals will begin in early April with performances in late May and early June, while Community Theatre will perform in late June.

Our Directors are looking at several scripts at this time and we will select the plays based on the number of participants.

There is no fee to be involved in the Summer Stock Theatre Program, just the willingness to....Make Art Happen.
