The Meeker Board of Education Monday night hired a new football coach who will also teach, and rehired the administrators in the school district.
Following an executive session and after returning to the open meeting, the board agreed to modify the contractural terms School Supt. Jeff Pruitt.
Board members voted to approve and/or modify the contractural terms of High School Principal Brad Buxton, Middle School Dean of Students Virgil Fowler, Elementary Principal Candice Gatz, Virtual/ Alternative Education Director Virginia Pritchard and Athletic Director Brad Seaborn.
The board also approved the hiring of Maverick Lang as the new head coach of high school football to replace D.J. Howell, who resigned.
Earlier Monday, Athletic Director Brad Seaborn said Lang also will teach at the high school. Seaborn said Lang has been an assistant football coach and offensive coordinator at Blackwell High School where his dad is the head coach.
“We had a lot of interest expressed in the position and we had several interviews,” Seaborn said.
In other business, the board approved the 2021 audit contract and engagement letter with Bledsoe, Hewett and Gullekson.
Members also approved a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria as surplus.
