Despite COVID-19, a few area high school teams were able to get in extra games over the holiday break.

North Rock Creek’s No. 15 boys team picked up a couple of wins, including 46-44 win over Crooked Oak on a lastsecond bucket by Diego Garcia.

The game was part of a holiday festival put together by Crooked Oak. The Cougars beat Capitol Hill 77-32 in the festival’s first day.

NRC’s girls won a pair, as well, beating Wynnewood 43-32 and taking a 37-36 win over Crooked Oak on freshman Lydia Van Atwerp’s two free throws with 11 seconds left.

McLoud’s boys pushed their record to 4-1 with an 86-31 win over Stroud last week.

The girls teams didn’t play, but the Lady Tigers followed up on Jan. 2 with a 77-42 win over Depew. It was only their second game of the season.

Waukomis took a couple of games from Agra, beating the Bearcat boys 45-42 and the girls, 49-20.
