Lady Red Devils rack up two wins

The Lady Red Devils returned from Labor Day Weekend with two dominating district wins followed by a narrow district loss at Newkirk.

Prague (14-4, 5-1) are in a good position in the final stretch of the season to finish in the top four of its district.

The Lady Red Devils look to close out strong in their seven remaining district games.

Prague at Chisholm on Tuesday, September 3 The Lady Red Devils surrendered one lone run against district foe Chisholm (16-6, 3-4) en route to a 9-1 victory over the Lady Longhorns. Prague got things started in the second inning after scoring four runs with a double and three singles in the inning.

Tessa Cooper started in the pitcher’s circle for the Lady Red Devils, pitching a complete game and allowing three hits, one run and striking out one batter. Prague racked up 13 hits on the day with Taylor Hodges, Beth Denney, Demi Manning, Dianna Manning, and Adisyn Auld all managing multiple hits for the Lady Red Devils.

Most impressively for coach Dailyn King, Prague didn’t commit a single error in the field.

Prague at Perry on Thursday, September 5 Prague defeated its four-straight district opponent after shutting out Perry (12-8, 3-4) in dominant fashion, 17-0.

Beth Denney started at the circle for the Lady Red Devils, completing the shutout win with five strikeouts and zero walks.

Up 6-0 in the top of the sixth, Prague sealed the win with an 11-run inning. The offensive onslaught by Prague was led by Diana Manning, Taylor Hodges, Demi Manning, Karsyn Coleman, Abby Kipps, and Josi Goodman, all driving in runs in the frame.

The Lady Red Devil’s big bats were led by Manning, Hodges, Manning, Coleman, Kipps, and Goodman, who each had RBIs in the inning.

Prague socked one home run on the day as Auld went for the long ball in the fifth inning.

Prague tallied 16 hits in the game compared to the Lady Maroons five. Hodges, Auld, Coleman, Kipps, and Manning each had multiple hits for Prague. Auld and Hodges each collected three hits to lead Prague.

Prague at Newkirk on Saturday, September 7 Prague’s lone loss on the week came at the hands of district foe, Newkirk (10-6, 6-2). The Lady Tigers captured an early after securing four runs in the bottom of the second. Down 5-0 in the top of the fourth, the Lady Red Devils got on the board with two runs after three singles in the inning. In the top of the seventh, Prague’s comeback came to a halt after scoring one run and leaving run-ners on second and third.

Tessa Cooper and Beth Denney split time in the circle with three innings each. Prague matched Newkirk with nine hits but added two more costly errors with three overall. Adisyn Auld went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Lady Red Devils in hits.
