Sew up third place in District 2A-2
Chandler put up some eye-popping rushing numbers Friday as they bounced Henryetta 54-0 in a game that clinched the Lions third place in District 2A-2.
Freshman Casmen Hill ran a dozen times for 175 yards and two touchdowns and senior Dylan McKinney ran 10 times for 109 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
When the night was done, the Lions had 10 players who carried the ball and they had a stat line that looked like a 1970s Wishbone team: four pass attempts with one completed for 35 yards, but 54 rushing attempts for 514 yards and six touchdowns.
Here’s how it went:
Freshman Stefaun Mackey, 9 yards Sophomore Kaden Jones, 30 yards Freshman Blake Rickner, 53 yards Freshman Xavier Tillis, 30 yards Freshman Kobe Smith, 84 yards Dylan McKinney, 109 yards, two touchdowns Freshman Casmen Hill, 175 yards, two touchdowns Freshman Dezmon Taliaferro, 1 yard Sophomore Dalton Fowble, 1 yard and a touchdown Junior Spencer Clagg, 22 yards and a touchdown.
Taylor Clagg had seven tackles to lead the Lion defense and Darian Mahan and Javon Frazier had five each.
The win put Chandler at 5-4 for the year and 4-2 in district play. The Lions close out the regular season Friday night against winless Holdenville on Senior Night.
They are guaranteed third place in the district and will go on the road for the playoffs to play the No. 2 team in District 2A-1.
That opponent will be decided Fridasy night when Oklahoma Christian School goes to Luther. The two teams are tied for zecond with 4-1 records behind district-leading Chisholm.
Chandler hosted Luther in mid-September and dropped a 15-14 decision.
The win against Henryetta was the Lions’ third in a row and fourth in five game.
After starting off 1-3, they seemed to find themselves after the Jones game. Since then, their only loss was on the road at Meeker in a game that was decided late.
