The beginning of a new life

On Memorial Day afternoon, my wife Pat and I once again became a great aunt and uncle. Our niece Sarah gave birth to a baby boy. Wyatt James was born at 2:39 p.m. on Memorial Day. Sarah is the daughter of Pat’s younger sister, Marilyn.

Who knows?

In the original Men in Black movie, Agent K, played by Tommy Lee Jones, sits on a bench with James Darrell Edwards III, who is about to become Agent J and is played by Will Smith. “1500 years ago, everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe,” K says.

Hearing set in high-speed chase

A pre-preliminary hearing has been scheduled for a driver facing four charges after he reportedly led Stroud police on a high speed pursuit. Dustin Don Secrest, 41, of Coweta, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court March 10 with two felonies and two misdemeanors.

Stroud woman arrested

Stroud police responding to a call at the Stroud High School Softball Complex shortly after midnight arrested a woman on outstanding warrants and she now faces a new drug charge.

Chandler junior high honor roll

Chandler Jr. High School recently announced its 7th and 8th grade honor rolls for the 2nd semester.

Nearly 2½ years ago, in the 2020 General Election, voters throughout Lincoln and Pottawatomie counties joined other Oklahomans across the state in soundly rejecting State Question 805. They shelved attempts to reform state sentencing laws.

New technology

Aaliyah came home last week in a great state of excitement because she had acquired some technology she’d been wanting. A record player. Yes, a portable record player, the same type that every teenaged girl wanted in the 1950s.

Preparing for Memorial Day

Once again America will celebrate Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a holiday that is bittersweet for many people. I am looking forward to enjoying a long weekend.

Grateful for a long, good life

Last week I had a doctor’s appointment and during the course of the visit, my physician mentioned that I had what he termed “an important” birthday the previous week. In case anyone cares or is just interested in knowing, I turned 75 a couple of weeks ago.
