Recently my wife Pat and I celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary. We were married July 1, 1978 in the chapel at St. Gregory’s. It was a Saturday morning at 10:30. This year July 1 fell on a Saturday also.

Our community enjoyed another terrific fireworks show and July 4th celebration in Foster Park last week. Thanks to all who made this possible. I read many comments that stated Stroud’s fireworks were one of the best around. We can add that to our list of reasons we are Stroud Proud.

I remember clearly the day I quit liking milk and ice cream. It was the spring of 1971 and I was going through the dinner line at East Oklahoma State College in Wilburton. I got my usual glass of milk, sat down, ate a couple of bites,took a drink of milk and Bleeccchhh.

Thank you to everyone who came out to play miniature golf this weekend at Putt Putt Kicks on Route 66. We appreciate the support. Not only did we have lots of local golfers, but we also had a family from Bristow who made a special trip to play with us.

We kept the grandson part of this weekend and when Pat and I and little Liam were riding around on Saturday we drove by several fireworks stands. It’s hard not to drive by one as many as there are around and they’ve been selling fireworks for at least a couple of weeks already.
