Powerlifters place at Bethel meet

Chandler went to Bethel last Thursday for a High School Powerlifting meet and had 5 lifters place in the top 5 and receive medals. In the boys division, Stefaun Mackey won the 157 lb. class with a total of 990 lbs. Dezmon Taliaferro place 2nd in the 242 lb. class with a total of 970 lbs.

Chandler Youth Wrestling sent 7 wrestlers to SMACKdown Nationals in Skiatook, Oklahoma, on Saturday, February 6, 2021. Four wrestlers brought home medals and fought some very hard competition to get them.

Meeker hires new football coach

The Meeker Board of Education Monday night hired a new football coach who will also teach, and rehired the administrators in the school district. Following an executive session and after returning to the open meeting, the board agreed to modify the contractural terms School Supt. Jeff Pruitt.

Area teams were able to get in only minimal action over the last week, as COVID forced cancellations of more than half the games scheduled. Only 14 games - sevens boys and seven girls - were played with Stroud accounting for six of those.

The Dale and North Rock Creek boys teams won tournament championships last week, with Dale taking the crown at the Cashion tournament and North Rock Creek winning the Tri-County Invitational, held at the Cougars’ own gym.
