The Stroud Rural Fire Association will hold its annual meeting on September 29th at 6:30 p.m. at the Foster Park Pavilion. Entertainment will be provided by the Redland Country Band. The Association would like to get members more involved. Bring your neighbors and any potential members.

Meeker Board of Education members this week approved the 2025-2026 Estimate of Needs and Financial Statement, voted to offer contracts to several people and accepted the resignation of one.School Supt. Jeff Pruitt reported the 2025-2026 Estimate of Needs totals $11,422,055.

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about our grandson Liam’s birthday who was turning 7. It had a special significance this year in light of his mother, our daughter Meghan, wouldn’t be there to share it with him.Many of you are aware, I know, that she passed away Aug. 18 from a bout with brain cancer.

A petition to rezone property located at South Hwy 99 and West Elm Street in Stroud from Agriculture to Commercial Highway was denied on Sep. 8 at a public hearing of the Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment.Four members voted against the rezoning, while one abstained.

Lisa Louise Railey, 57, went home to be with her heavenly Father onAugust 31, 2025. She was born on May 17, 1968, in Chandler, Oklahoma, to Jerry and Margie (Anderson) Prock. She relocated to Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, in 1978, where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Christopher Railey.
