It irks me to no end when I hear of and see reports of a child and children who have been abused. The same is true with the abuse of animals whether it be a household pet or a farm animal.

The bricks at the Veteran’s Memorial have been completed. If you purchased one, stop by and take a look. Town Talk volunteers worked very hard to make sure there were no errors on the bricks and were placed in the area requested. They turned out nicely and Town Talk appreciates each of you who added to the memorial.

Some surprising closet finds

After working on the paper for a while this weekend, I decided to take a break from it and went back to cleaning out a closet that I started working on a few weeks ago. It’s amazing what all I found.

There’s an old saying that “If it isn’t broke, don’t try to fix it.” Senate Joint Resolution 34 would try to fix or undo reforms put into place around 50 years ago that are still working perfectly today. SJR34 would, if it passes in the House, place a question on the statewide ballot in the Nov.

Congratulations to Coach Gary Higgins on being selected for induction into the Oklahoma Coaches Association’s 2024 Hall of Fame. Higgins is currently a coach in North Rock Creek. He is a graduate of Stroud High School Class of 1966. Gary is married to Sherry Johnson Higgins who is also a Stroud High School graduate. Just another example of the outstanding graduates our school system produces. Gary is loved here in Stroud.
