Lincoln County Commissioners adopt resolutions

Lincoln County commissioners this week adopted a resolution for the Use Tax Account for 17 fire departments. They also adopted a resolution for funds from the Use Tax Accrued Interest Account to be used towards construction of an Administration Annex when it’s built.
Stroud lineman Peyton Gaylord signed his national letter of intent to play football at Oklahoma Baptist University. Gaylord helped lead the Tigers to an undefeated district season, a 10-3 record and a berth in the state quarterfinals. Prison sentence for Wellston man in neglect

One of four persons from Wellston charged last summer with child neglect recently pleaded guilty and has been sentenced to prison. Steven Owen Cohran, 32, was formally charged July 24, 2023 in Lincoln County District Court with child neglect.

Hearings continued in animal cruelty

Preliminary hearings have been continued for two women from Wellston who were arrested as the result of an animal neglect investigation that began in March of last year and who are facing 49 charges each of animal cruelty.

Years of groundwork gave way to the start of construction on a new casino west of Chandler by the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma. The new gaming complex is set for completion by 2026, according to chairman Jacob Keyes.
