A woman who was charged in January of 2023 with discharging a fireman from her vehicle while driving on the Turner Turnpike has pleaded guilty and been sentenced, almost all of the term suspended.
Formal felony charges were filed in Lincoln County District Court Jan. 25, 2023 against Taj’unique Johnnice Owens, 25, of Oklahoma City.
Appearing before District Judge John Canavan, Owens stood on her not guilty plea and the judge set her for the felony disposition docket on Sep. 30.
On that date, appearing before District Judge Sarah Bridge and as the result of a plea bargain, she withdrew her previous pleas and entered guilty pleas. The judge received her pleas.
The state and Owens waived a pre-sentence investigation.
Judge Bridge found her guilty as charged on Count 1 and sentenced Owens to10 years with the Department of Corrections with all time suspended except the first 90 days. She assessed her a $100 fine and $100 VCA and court costs.
On Count 2, the judge handed her a one-year suspended sentence in the Lincoln County Jail, a $100 fine and $100 VCA and court costs. She ordered the sentences to run concurrent with each other and gave the defendant credit for time served from July 19, 2024.
Judge Bridge ordered Owens to pay restitution in the amount of $1,559.11 per restitution schedule, Owens was ordered to forfeit firearms and she was advised of the requirement to register on the Mary Rippy Act.
