Lincoln County commissioners this week authorized the Sheriff’s Office to go out for bid on a pre-engineered steel building and approved agreements with an engineering firm for bridges in Districts 1 and 2.

Lincoln County Sheriff Charlie Dougherty informed commissioners his office has left over CARES Act money he wants to spend on a 40 by 60 feet steel building. Dougherty further advised them he would like to have it placed at the County fairgrounds for use as a training center.

“This isn’t costing you anything,” he assured the three county commissioners.

They unanimously authorized him to seek bids for the building.

Commissioners also approved Task Order agreements with EST, an engineering firm, for two bridges in District 1 and two bridges in District 2.

They approved a contract with Flintco for the jail addition and renovation.

The commissioners also appointed the Emergency Management Department to be over the E-911 employees.

They also declared Nov. 1 as Darla Riley Day. Riley is retiring from the County Clerk’s Office.

County Clerk Alicia Wagnon announced a reception for Riley will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 30 at the courthouse.
