Bruce Howard Newby of Chandler was born February 18, 1942, in Gate, Okla. He died Sunday, June 28, 2020, in Stroud at the age of 78 years.

Newby, the son of Emra Lee Newby and Martha Elizabeth Harvey, married Joyce Clark on June 9, 1963.

A 1960 graduate of Gate High School, he attended Friends Bible College in Haviland, Kan., and held a Bachelor of Science Degree. He served in ministry at Friends Churches in Texas, Kansas and Oklahoma, including Chandler. He was serving as pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Chandler at the time of his death.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Cecil, Edgar and Max; and four sisters, Pearl, Vivian, Evelyn and Helen.

Survivors include his wife Joyce Newby of the home; his son Kurtis Newby of Oklahoma City; two daughters and spouses, Janette and Randy Brooks of Wichita, Kan., and Kayla and Wayne Floyd of Booker, Texas; four grandchildren and their spouses; and four great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by three brothers, Ron Newby of Wheat Ridge, Colo., Gary Newby of Beaver, Okla., and Roger Newby of Chandler; two sisters, Carolyn Barnett of Erie, Colo., and Marilyn Sulak of Springfield, Ga.; and other family and friends.

Services were held Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Chandler First Baptist Church with Pastor Dustin Lampe officiating. Burial followed at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.
