Prague woman dies in crash

A Prague has died and a Meeker man was injured recently in a two-vehicle collision at U.S. 177 and I-40 in Pottawatomie County.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Conner Fryrear identified the woman who died as Diana Srader, 78, of Prague. The trooper said she was transported to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City by React EMS and pronounced deceased at the hospital due to internal injuries.

Injured in the collision was Ronald Grizzle, 53, of Meeker, the trooper reported. He was transported by React EMS to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City and admitted in good condition with trunk internal injuries.

Fryrear said the collision occurred around 12:29 p.m. on U.S. 177 and I-40, approximately three miles west of Shawnee.

He said a 2024 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Srader was traveling eastbound on I-40 and Grizzle, was driving a 1999 GMC pickup southbound on U.S. 177.

Fryrear reported that Srader failed to stop at the stop sign and her vehicle was struck by the pickup truck.

The trooper stated Srader was entrapped for approximately 14 minutes before being extricated by the Shawnee Fire Department utilizing Hurst tools.

He said condition of both drivers at the time of the collision was apparently normal. He listed cause of the collision as failure to yield at stop sign.

Seat belts were equipped in both vehicles but not in use by Grizzle, the trooper stated.

Airbags deployed in both vehicles, Fryrear noted.

Fryrear, of the Pottawatomie/ Lincoln County Detachment of Troop A, was assisted by the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office, React EMS and the Shawnee Fire Department.
