If you didn’t come out to watch the Tiger football game this past Friday night you missed an exciting game. When the Tonkawa Buccaneers walked out onto the field with their massive team of fifty-seven players my first thought was, “Wow, those guys are big!” I guess the old adage is true though, the bigger they are the harder they fall. The fell in defeat to the mighty Tigers but it was not an easy battle for either team. They both fought a good fight but the Tigers came out victorious. It was a great win, and congratulations are in order for Coach Presley, his staff and the Stroud Tigers. Stroud will take on the Kellyville Ponies this Friday night with kick-off set for 7:00 p.m. Pack up your cowbell and head up Route 66 and support the Tigers. Don’t forget to turn on your blue porch light before leaving town. See you at the game.

The Museum of Pioneer History located at 719 Manvel Avenue in Chandler is putting on a murder mystery at the Museum on October 17th with a start time of 6:00 p.m. There was a murder at the Dusty Spur Saloon in a bustling frontier town in the 1880’s. They were celebrating the end of harvest season when Jed Baxter, the banker, was found dead. Come have dinner and solve Ol’ Jeb’s murder. To attend, go to their website and reserve your character. There are only twenty-five characters still available. Dinner will be salad, chili and cornbread muffins served with a drink and dessert. All proceeds from the event will go to the Lincoln County Museum of Pioneer History.

August and Lincoln played baseball on Sunday with their team, Performance Baseball, in Blanchard. They took home a 7-2 win after a rain delay. After completion of their first game, the tournament was cancelled due to lightning concerns. You know I can’t be sure, but I’d say they would have ended up taking home first place, but you might also say I’m a little prejudiced.

Rumor has it that we have two new businesses open on Main Street down from Old Stroud Trading Post & Pawn. The businesses are Gem’s on Main and Violett Junction. It might just be worth a drive downtown to see what these two stores have to offer. While on Main Street, check out the progress of GiGi’s donuts at the corner of Highways 66 & 99. They are hoping to be open for business soon. Take a peek across the street at the new paint job, roof and mural at the landmark Skyline Motel. Things are happening on Main Street.

Have a great week and thank you for shopping local……………….first!
