A Stroud man was fatally shot last week and a Harrah man was taken into custody and is in the Lincoln County Jail in Chandler in connection with the shooting.
Captain Chuck Brewer, with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, identified the victim as Gabriel Chumley, who had just turned 21 in late January.
Sitting in the Lincoln County jail after he was arrested is Cole Guy, 19, of the Harrah area. Brewer said Guy is being held without bond and his arraignment is set for Feb. 25.
Guy is being held on a first degree murder complaint. No charges had been filed as of Feb. 16.
Brewer said the shooting was reported to the Lincoln County’s Sheriff’s Office about 6:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 10. He said when officers arrived they discovered the shooting had occurred in the roadway in front of a residence at 329962 E. 1022 Road.
He said that is near the intersection of S. 3300 Road and E. 1022 Road in Lincoln County.
Brewer explained a 15-year-old and another person in a vehicle driven by Chumley when he was allegedly shot to death were witnesses to the fatal shooting. that Chumley and the 15-year-old girl had been in a previous relationship. He said the girl and Guy presently were in a relationship but that she called Chumley to come pick her up due to a physical altercation the girl had with Guy.
Brewer reported that when Chumley arrived to pick up the girl, she got in the vehicle and as Chumley was driving the vehicle away from the residence, Chumley was shot and killed in his vehicle.
He said the firearm used was undetermined. The captain noted a search warrant was executed later at Guy’s residence and additional evidence was secured.
Brewer said the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has been brought in to assist in the investigation.
