On Monday, September 2, at approximately 4:41 a.m., the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to 106 Meadow Lane in Chandler. The sheriff ’s department was advised by Lincoln County communication center that Jade Simon, wife of Steven Bradley Simon, had run to the above address.
Mrs. Simon stated Steven B. Simon was attempting to kill her and choke her, discharged a firearm out the back door, and threatened to use the firearm on her. She told dispatch her husband, Steven B. Simon, was a commissioned police officer for Chandler Police Department and was probably armed with an unknown type of weapon in the residence.
At approximately 4:45 a.m., local law enforcement made contact with Mrs. Simon, who was in the residence at 106 Meadow Lane with her neighbors, the exact location of Steven Bradley Simon was unknown.
Mrs. Simon was escorted from the residence with the assistance of on-scene officers and was taken to a secure location. During that time, Steven Simon was located by law enforcement and interviewed.
At approximately 5:35 a.m., Mrs. Simon was transferred to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department to obtain a written statement and evaluate her injuries. Mrs. Simon appeared to sustain injuries at that time consistent with her statement they were a result of domestic abuse by Steven Simon.
Lead investigators were contacted and requested to assist in the investigation.
At approximately 5:54 a.m., Steven Bradley Simon was placed under arrest and transported to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department where he was booked for domestic abuse.
According to Neal Davis, the public information officer from the District Attorney’s office, the following charges were filed against Simon: assault and battery by strangulation; use of firearm while in commission of a felony; attempting, conspiring, or endeavoring to perform the act of violence involving serious bodily harm or death; and devising a plan, scheme, or program of action to cause serious harm or death.
Simon was also charged with unlawful use of radio sets capable of receiving police frequencies; reckless discharge of a firearm; and carrying weapons under influence of alcohol.
During a court hearing held Monday afternoon, Simon’s bond was reduced from $100,000 to $20,000 and is not allowed contact with the victim. An ankle monitor will be placed on Simon and he was to undergo alcohol testing.
Divorce papers and a restraining order for Simon were filed by Mrs. Simon.
