Three felonies filed against Stroud man

A Stroud resident faces three felonies and a misdemeanor following his arrest in early June.

Joshua Phillip Akers, 37, was formally charged recently in Lincoln County District Court.

He is charged with second degree burglary, larceny of automobile, aircraft or motor vehicle, grand larceny and breaking and entering a dwelling without permission.

Special Judge Emily Mueller set a $8,000 bond for Akers who made his initial appearance on June 17. He was ordered to return for his pre-preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. on July 1.

On July 1, both Akers and the state waived his right to a preliminary hearing. Judge Mueller set his arraignment for 9:30 a.m. on July 13.

The second degree burglary charge accuses him of breaking and entering into a building located at 820 E. Highway 66 in Stroud owned by TIMCO, in which property of value was contained, by kicking in the door with the intent to commit grand larceny.

The larceny count of an automobile, aircraft or other motor vehicle accuses Akers on June 3 of this year taking and driving away a 2001 Q35 green flatbed truck without the consent of TIMCO, the owner of the truck, with the intention of stealing it.

The third felony, grand larceny, alleges Akers on that same date took and carried away a blue green boom lift, a yellow Dewat ½ inch drive hammer drill, a Hilti Stencil gun in a red case, a Dewalt cordless drill ½ inch drive, a red Canon Camera with strap, a Kobalt wrench set and a number of other items.
