Charges for Stroud man

A Stroud man faces two felonies and two misdemeanors following a recent high speed pursuit on Highway 66 and county roads in Lincoln County.

Formal felony charges were filed April 21 in Lincoln County District Court against Camron Jeremiah Thornhill, 21.

The felonies include endangering others while eluding and attempting to elude a police officer and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

The misdemeanor counts are reckless driving and operating a motorcycle without the required equipment.

Associate District Judge Sheila Kirk set Thornhill’s bond at $3,000 and scheduled his continued initial appearance for 1:30 p.m. June 2.

In Count 1, Thornhill is accused on April 19 of eluding Stroud Police Officer Aaron Keeling in the performance of his duties by passing vehicles in a no-passing zone causing a vehicle to swerve to the grass shoulder to avoid collision and endangering numerous other vehicles while Thornhill was driving a motorcycle on Highway 66 in Stroud in Lincoln County.

The information states Thornhill had received a visual and audible signal from Keeling directing him to stop his vehicle,

Count 2 charges him with operating a motorcycle on the same day without being entitled to its possession and without the consent of its owner, depriving the owner of the permanent possession of the motorcycle.

The reckless driving count alleges Thornhill was driving the motorcycle in a careless and reckless manner without due care for the safety of the people or their property by driving in excessive speeds while passing vehicles in the eastbound lane while driving westbound and at a speed that was neither careful or prudent.

He also is charged with operating the motorcycle without having a windshield of sufficient quality, size and thickness to protect the operator from foreign objects, goggle or other protective eyeware or a face shield of material and size to protect the operator from foreign objects.
